Did you know that counselling is unregulated in BC?
I have been a Registered Clinical Counsellor, or RCC since 2006 which is a highly regarded professional designation for counsellors here in BC. RCCs must meet standards in terms of education, supervision, and insurance, as well as follow a code of conduct.
In my case, I have an Master’s Degree in Clinical Counselling and specialized training in a number of areas including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT (evidence based treatment for anxiety and depression) Learn about interactions between thoughts, feelings, actions and challenge your negative thoughts.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
DBT (self harm, impulsivity, borderline personality disorder traits, chronic difficulty in relationships/friendships) Focus on emotional regulation and interpersonal skill development.
Emotionally Focused Therapy
EFT (recommended for couples and relationship concerns)
Interpersonal Therapy
(anxiety, depression, difficult transitions)
Exposure Response Prevention
ERP (excellent for treating OCD)
Solution Focused Therapy
Goal oriented therapy useful for short term counselling.
I am highly relational in my approach which means that I value the relationship we develop, strive to build trust and respect that you are the expert in your own life.
I offer a complementary 15-minute consultation (in person, by phone, or via secure video conference) should you want an opportunity to meet before scheduling an appointment.
I’m a first generation Canadian, a parent, a partner, and a dog mom. I’m a late bloomer in all the ways, and I’ve pursued my master’s degree in counselling after a long career in addictions and as a youth worker and non-profit coordinator.
I am passionate about showing up for people and providing a safe space where they feel acknowledged. I bring common sense, humour, and life experience to my work as a registered clinical counsellor.
I strive to ensure client confidentiality by not scheduling client appointments back-to-back so that you’ll have privacy. Currently masks are currently not required but are welcomed. I follow all Provincial Health Orders. My office is near 14th ave and King George Blvd in South Surrey.
I am passionate about showing up for people and providing a safe space where they feel acknowledged. I am a big believer in lifelong learning and keeping current in my practice by reading and attending workshops.
